An antique Persian Heriz carpet, Ca. 1915 or so, with just the right colors. In oriental rugs, the right colors are everything, and this piece has them. A field in the perfect shade of madder red hold palmettes and zoomorphic creatures in light indigo, cream yellows, teal, green, and shrimp-pink. The large central medallion is framed by dark indigo, and all surrounded by a very well-drawn Herati border. Condition is very good with a sound foundation; some areas of low pile; some minor rebinding required. All vegetable dye.
